Dartford began their home league campaign against St. Leonards on Monday night, and came out convincing winners. They started brightly and within the first ten minutes, Nick Barnes had hit a volley just over the bar from 15 yards and Tom Adlington hit a shot wide from outside of the penalty area.

At the other end, Steve Williams had to make a reaction save from Carleton Chatelier's header but apart from that incident, the Dartford defence was not stretched during the game.

After 35 minutes, Dartford came close to scoring when Malcolm Pointer's 25-yard volley deflected off a St. Leonards defender in the penalty area and hit the upright, before being cleared to safety.

The Darts opened their account three minutes later when Lee Jones brought the ball down the right wing and whipped in a left footed cross which was knocked down by captain Luke Morrish. Chris Arnold latched on to the loose ball and buried his shot in the back of the net from eight yards out.

Four minutes later, Jones added a second when he shot from twenty yards out following a cross from Lee Guiver and the ball deflected off Adam Flanagan and looped over goalkeeper Graham Bannatyne and into the net.

In the second half, Dartford never looked like conceding a goal although St Leonards strived to get back into the game and ensured a comfortable win when they scored a third goal in the 74th minute.

Following good work by Adlington, Guiver squared the ball to Arnold who controlled the ball before coolly placing his shot into the back of the net from close range.

Dartford: Williams, Adlington, Evans, Pointer, L. Morrish, Roberts, Barnes (A. Morrish 81 mins), Guiver (Wilson 81 mins), Arnold, Jones and Holbrook. Sub Not Used - Sawyer.
