Dartford came within three minutes of picking up a valuable three points on Saturday. The Darts survived a scare after 12 minutes when Steve Williams handled a backheader from Danny Evans outside of his penalty area. Having been sent off earlier in the season for a similar offence, the Dartford goalkeeper was relieved to see the referee only produce a yellow card for the offence. At the other end, the Darts could have taken the lead after 17 minutes, but Wayne Grizzle stabbed a shot wide following a cross from Chris Arnold. The remainder of the half was evenly contested with the home side's Malcolm Ndekwe firing across goal and then after 37 minutes the same player had a shot well saved by Williams. In stoppage time, Jon Challinor saw a dipping drive just clear the Dartford crossbar. Four minutes into the second half, Dartford should have taken the lead but, following a good move, Malc Pointer shot wide when unmarked 10 yards from goal. However, the Darts did take the lead after 75 minutes when the home side only partially cleared a ball and substitute Frankie Cole hit a superb left foot drive into the top corner of the net from fully thirty yards out. Dartford: Williams, Pointer, Evans, Scott, Morrish, Roberts, Guiver (Cole 55 mins), Ross, Arnold, Jones and Grizzle. Subs not used: Fitzpatrick and Marriner.
