Dartford will rue missed chances and bad luck as they lost 3-2 in the first ever meeting of these clubs.
After 11 minutes, the Darts had the first scoring opportunity to score when Chris Arnold latched on to a pass from Lee Guiver but when he tried to round keeper, John Hughes, his shot cannoned off the goalkeeper's legs.

The visitors took the lead after 29 minutes when Phil Marsden shot home from the edge of the penalty area off the inside of a post.

In the second half, Hughes did well to block another effort from Arnold and Guiver hooked a shot over the bar from 10 yards out after 53 minutes. Hughes again did well to save a close range effort from Danny Evans but Dartford deservedly drew level after 70 minutes when a shot from Mal Pointer was diverted to Nick Barnes and the teenager fired home from 12 yards with a left foot shot.

Four minutes later, Rothwell went ahead again when Tom Adlington was adjudged to have brought down Andy Easter. Although Steve Williams blocked the penalty kick from Dean Foley, the Rothwell skipper managed to squeeze the follow up into the net.

Rothwell went further ahead after 88 minutes when substitute Jason Turner netted again off a post after a long clearance from Hughes.

The Rothwell goalkeeper's luck finally ran out in stoppage time when Simon Roberts shot hit the crossbar and then hit Hughes on the back of the head and into the goal.

Dartford: Williams, Adlington, Evans, Scott, L. Morrish, Roberts, Barnes (S. Johns 89 mins), Guiver, Arnold, Jones and Pointer (Usherwood 80 mins). Sub not used: Cole.
