Dartford lost their second home games in three days on Monday night, but considering the amount of first team players missing, the team put up a valiant performance. With Tom Adlington, Paul Wilson, and Lee Guiver (all injured) and Mal Pointer, Lee Jones, Paul Johns and Liam Nash (all unavailable), Gary Julians gave full League debuts to Frankie Cole and Richard Usherwood and 17 year old Stephen Johns made his first appearance for the first team coming on as a second half substitute. Although the Darts had most of the first 20 minutes play, they fell behind to a splendid Baldock goal after 24 minutes. Following a cross from the right from Richard Preston, Mark Bridge hit a half volley on the turn from ten yards out into the roof of the net, giving Steve Williams no chance. However, Dartford came out for the second half looking for an equaliser and were rewarded after only three minutes. Nick Barnes persisted in keeping the ball in play before playing the ball back to Chris Arnold. The young striker spotted goalkeeper, Adam Wheeler off his line and chipped the goalkeeper from 20 yards. After 59 minutes, Dartford went ahead when Adam Morrish struck a shot from 25 yards, which skidded off the wet turf and into the net. However, the Darts joy was short lived when just a minute later, following a mix up in the Dartford defence, Bridge chipped the ball over Williams before following up into an empty net. Dartford were then punished twice for two mistakes following corners from the right. The first, after 71 minutes, appeared to be under the control of Williams but under pressure from the Baldock forwards, the ball squirmed out of his grasp and over the line. Three minutes later, Gary Walker was left unmarked six yards out and had the easy task of heading home. Dartford: Williams, Cole, Evans, Scott, L. Morrish, Roberts, Barnes, Usherwood, A. Morrish (S. Johns 78 mins), Arnold and Holbrook. Subs not used: Sawyer and Roostan. Attendance 144.
